UPDATE: Nissan to close Datsun car production in Russia end-2020
(Rewrites throughout)
MOSCOW, May 28 (PRIME) -- Japan's carmaker Nissan will close production of Datsun cars in Russia in late 2020 under its plan to close some of the foreign production lines, according to the company’s report on sustainable growth until 2023 released on Thursday.
The company attributed the decision to an unstable market situation and lower new car sales in Russia.
Supplies of Datsun cars to dealers will continue until March 2021, the company said.
According to the report, the company also plans to stop Nissan car production in South Korea and to optimize operations on Asia-Pacific markets.
